One-to-one English tutoring for children
Every TutorPro lesson is one child and one teacher. Here is what that actually changes — and where a group class would serve you better.

The difference is talk time
In a class of eight children sharing twenty-five minutes, a child speaks for roughly three minutes even if the teacher distributes turns perfectly. One-to-one, the same twenty-five minutes gives your child somewhere between ten and fifteen minutes of actual speaking, because the rest is the teacher asking, correcting and explaining.
That ratio is the whole argument. A language is produced, not received, and the quantity a child produces is the thing that most closely tracks how fast they improve.
What else changes
Correction lands
A mistake is corrected the moment it happens, to the child who made it. In a group, correcting one child costs the other seven their attention, so teachers correct less.
The pace is your child’s
Stuck on long vowels? We stay there. Already fluent at it? We move on the same lesson. No group can do both.
Quiet children speak
A child who will not volunteer in front of peers will often talk freely to one adult who waits. This is the most common reason parents move a shy child out of group classes.
The content is theirs
Homework they are stuck on, a book they are reading, an exam next month. A group class teaches the syllabus; a tutor can teach your child’s week.
When a group class is the better choice
We would rather say this than pretend otherwise. A group suits a child who is motivated by other children, who needs to hear peers making mistakes to feel safe making their own, or who finds an adult’s undivided attention uncomfortable rather than helpful. It is also cheaper, and for a family where budget is the binding constraint, regular group lessons beat occasional one-to-one ones — consistency matters more than format.
We only teach one-to-one, so if that is your child, we are not the right school and we will say so.
The same teacher each week
Your child keeps the same teacher rather than meeting whoever is free. Over a few months that teacher knows which sounds your child still avoids, which topics get them talking, and what they were stuck on last Tuesday — none of which survives a rotating roster. You can change teacher at any time if the fit is wrong.

Questions parents ask
Are TutorPro lessons one-to-one?
Yes. Every lesson is one child with one teacher. We do not run group classes.
Why is one-to-one better than a group class?
Mainly talk time. In a group of eight sharing 25 minutes a child speaks for around three minutes; one-to-one it is usually ten to fifteen. Correction also reaches the child who made the mistake, immediately.
Is one-to-one worth the extra cost?
For most children learning to speak, yes, because speaking time is what drives progress. But a child who is motivated by peers, or a family for whom budget decides frequency, may do better with consistent group lessons than occasional private ones.
Will my child have the same teacher every week?
Yes, unless you ask to change. Keeping one teacher is how they come to know what your child avoids and what gets them talking.
Can I change teacher if it is not a good fit?
At any time, and without needing to explain. Tell us and we will arrange someone else.
How much does a one-to-one English tutor cost?
$8 per 25-minute lesson for 1–3 a week, or $7 each for 4 or more. 50-minute lessons are double. The first class is free.
